Carbonation Study

Over time concrete surfaces react with the carbon dioxide in air, which then carbonates the concrete, reducing its passivity and thus protection of the reinforcement from corrosion. The extent of Carbonation in relation to the Cover is an important factor that determines the durability of the concrete.

Assessment of the Depth of Carbonation is helpful in identifying the cause of distress due to corrosion as also in estimation of the strength in old structures. We conduct Phenophtalein test to investigate and assess the depth of Carbonation.
