A) Here is an example of a quality conscious contractor in Goa who uses our services regularly: “By way of proactive and intelligent testing by JVP, it was found that a particular section of the structure showed slightly lower strength which led us to a more detailed investigation and the cause of this variation. A cost effective solution was then offered by JVP as also a dialogue with our staff in order to ensure the best quality in future!”
B)Non Destructive Evaluation of a bungalow under construction at Reis Magos was taken up from Durability Perspective by focussing on the following:
- Evaluate the average strength of concrete in different elements
- Assess the quality, integrity and soundness of concrete,.
- Assess the damage due to poor workmanship and identify areas that may cause any future distress.
- Assess areas of low cover in all elements with a possibility of ingress of moisture in order to treat and avoid any future deterioration.
Although cover blocks were used by the contractor, Cover Survey revealed large areas that had very low cover as indicated by chaulk marks in the pictures below. These areas were identified using PROFOSCOPE by setting a threshold minimum cover as 20 mm for the ceiling. Similar process was carried out for the beams with an appropriate threshold cover as recommended by the structural consultant.
With this information on Cover, it was then easy to treat all low cover areas with Carbonation resistant products - an appropriate impregnant and a membrane - that now ensures that both moisture and CO2 diffusion does not take place in these areas while allowing the breathing properties!
